Set against the streets of New York, when mayor Giuliani’s first term was in full swing, this film features a lonely teenager named Luke Shapiro who finishes his last days before university peddling marijuana, trading it with his kindly but unorthodox psychotherapist for treatment, while harbouring a crush on his stepdaughter. Played by Ben Kingsley, the therapist struggles to fix his own failing marriage, as Luke wonders if his parents will stop acting like children, or if he may ever beat his own depression and get laid.
